Naming Opportunities
Naming opportunities at the Women In Military Service For America Memorial are designed to honor American servicewomen and to show support for the Memorial and its Education Center. The Memorial is located at the Ceremonial Entrance to Arlington National Cemetery and is the only major national memorial to honor the nearly two million servicewomen who have served in defense of our nation. The Memorial Education Center features:
Flag Flanges in the Hall of Honor
In the Memorial's Hall of Honor, tribute is paid to those women who have served with particular sacrifice, distinction and achievement, specifically those women who were killed in action or during the performance of their military duty, were prisoners of war or were recipients of our nation's highest award for service and bravery. The US flag and each of the state, territory and service branch flags line the wall of the Hall of Honor and are joined at the room's end by a marble wall made from the sister block to that used for Arlington National Cemetery's Tomb of the Unknown. The room is a fitting and honorable tribute to those women who gave so much in the service of their country.
Holding each flag is a 3-1/2" stainless steel flange which will be engraved with the name of the state, territory or service branch on its upper section. A tremendous naming opportunity is available for donor's to have the lower section of the flange inscribed. Inscriptions can consist of the donor's name or it can be inscribed in honor or memory of a person or group. This is a wonderful way to permanently and prominently link yourself or a loved one to a home-state or to pay tribute to a state of origin. The required donation for naming a flange is $5,000.
Theater Chairs
A prominent feature of the Memorial's Education Center is the 196-seat theater. The theater features films depicting the various roles women have played throughout history. With its beautifully curved walls, acoustically-correct beech wood clad ceiling and lovely stage area, the theater is also used for special events. This magnificent setting offers space on the back of each of its beech wood and upholstered seats as naming opportunities for interested donors. Seats are "named" with an engraved 2-1/4" x 4-1/2" brass plaque with the name of the person or organization being honored. Many seats have already been designated to honor or pay tribute to loved ones and prominent military figures, as well as veteran and women's organizations. This extraordinary and highly visible naming opportunity is available for a contribution of $10,000.
Donor Recognition Wall
A beautiful wood-paneled wall will be placed across from the conference room, adjacent to the Hall of Honor and designated as a space for recognition of donors. This is also a place to honor or pay tribute to the memory of a loved one, prominent military figure or organization. Plaques measuring 2-1/2" x 6" are available for $2,500 and 2-1/2" x 8-1/2" for $5,000.
Other major naming opportunities include the Hall of Honor, 196-seat Theater, Gift shop, Register Room and Conference Room. For more information, please contact Leslie Simmons at 703-533-1155, 800-222-2294 or by e-mailing hq@womensmemorial.org.
