About the Library of Congress Veteran's History Project

The Women’s Memorial Foundation's Oral History Program has joined forces with the Library of Congress‘s Veterans History Project, a congressionally-mandated effort to collect and preserve audio and videotaped interviews with veterans of World War I, World War II, and the Korean, Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars.

As a partner, the Memorial Foundation's program is listed on the Project’s Web site at the Library of Congress, www.loc.gov/folklife/vets/ and our interviews will be listed in the Library’s national catalog if they are accompanied by a signed consent form, a biographical data sheet and a tape log.

Copies of all these forms are in the Memorial Foundation's oral history handbook, HerStory: An Oral History Handbook for Collecting Military Women’s Stories available for $5 plus tax, from the Women's Memorial Gift Shop. The tapes themselves are housed in the Women's Memorial collections—the principal repository for military women’s stories and memorabilia.
