Anyone who served with nurse Eleanor (Melbourne) Miller during WWII. I need information about my service history because I’m having a hard time remembering details. I joined in Aug 1944 and trained at a hotel in Atlantic City, NJ, but can’t recall which one. I then went to Haloran Hosp, Staten Island, NY, before shipping out for the west coast and onto New Caladonia and Espiritos Santos, New Hebrides, where we staged for the invasion of Okinawa. We were transported by troop ship USS Pope to a mobile Army field hosp between two airfields, then to Iwo Jima before our arrival on Kyushu as the first allied women in occupied Japan. The project, being produced by students at the State University of New York/Potsdam, highlights the stories of military women in the current conflict as well as their experiences after they've come home.
