The 2008-09 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), one of the most exclusive fund drives in the world, begins this month. More than 1,000,000 charities operate in the US, and fewer than 5 percent (the Women's Memorial Foundation included) meet or exceed CFC's stringent participation standards. Within this exclusive group, only 2,000 exceed standards enough to be awarded the Independent Charities of America and Local Independent Charities of America's (ICALCA's) "Independent Charities Seal of Excellence." The Women's Memorial was again awarded this Seal--an honor presented to the ICALCA members that have, upon rigorous independent review, been able to certify, document, and demonstrate on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness.

As you make your charitable giving plans for this year, remember that the Women In Military Service For America Memorial Foundation, Inc., (CFC# 11350) is one of the charities that federal employees can choose for their donations. Thanks to each of you who has generously contributed to the Memorial through these campaigns in the past, an important landmark has been added to the face of our nation's capital. Your continued support will preserve history and help this living memorial flourish.

To learn more about how you can participate in the 2008-09 Combined Federal Campaign, visit the CFC Web site.
