at Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony

Members of the Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues paid their respects to fallen servicemen and women at the 12th annual Women in the Military Wreath Laying Ceremony on May 19, 2009.

Women from the five branches of the US Armed Forces were honored at the ceremony for their outstanding service and accomplishments. Honorees included Army MSG Flora McKnight, Marine Corps GySgt Min Sook Ellis, Navy YNCS Dee Allen, Air Force MSgt Dianna Kent, and Coast Guard SKCM Beth Bunn. The day’s events included a ceremonial laying of a wreath and placement of roses at the foot of the Memorial Reflecting Pool in tribute  to and remembrance of the servicewomen who have lost their lives in service to our country. (The petals from these roses were saved and added to those used during the May 25 Women’s Memorial Memorial Day ceremony.)
