Women's Memorial Special Exhibit
The Greatest Generation: A Visual TributeThe Greatest Generation: A Visual Tribute is a collection of 50 plus portraits of the men and women of World War II by our guest artist-in-residence, Chris Demarest. Mr. Demarest is an author and illustrator of over 100 titles as well as an official artist for the Coast Guard. He has documented Coast Guard operations from the Persian Gulf to Hurricane Katrina. Many of his drawings and paintings are in the Coast Guard's permanent art collection in Washington, DC. For the past several months, Mr. Demarest has been setting up his paints and easel in the Memorial where he's been painting and hanging portraits honoring the "greatest generation”. All depicting World War II servicemembers on the job, the portraits hang in tribute to those who served both home and abroad. We hope you will make plans to visit the Memorial during his tenure with us. To view some of his work, visit Mr. Demarest's web site.
