2008 Freedom Walk Begins at Women's Memorial Sept. 7

The Women's Memorial is proud to be the official starting point for the
Washington, DC-based 4th Annual National Freedom Walk to honor
servicemembers and veterans and to commemorate victims of the September 11th
attacks. This year's walk, which is free and open to the public, starts at 9
a.m. (EDT) with a brief opening ceremony and finishes at the Pentagon South
Parking Lot.

For more information about the DC-based walk and to sign up, visit the America Supports You (ASY) Web site.

You do not have to live in the Washington, DC-area to participate in an ASY
Freedom Walk. Freedom Walks are taking place across the country during the
week of Sept. 11. To find a local Freedom Walk, or to start one in your
community, visit the Walk Map on the ASY Web site.

Additionally, participants can share the experience online through the Facebook web community. For more information, or to invite your friends to participate online, visit the Facebook site.

To learn more about the ASY Freedom Walk 2008, listen to a Pentagon Radio Network story about how to host an event on the Blog Talk Radio or watch the Department of Defense news report about the Walk on the DoD Web site. More information is also available on the ASY Freedom Walk 2008 Web site.

Freedom Walks are coordinated through the DoD's "America Supports You" program, which provides opportunities for citizens to show their support for the US Armed Forces.
