"Lioness" Wins Big at the GI Film Festival

The producers of the award-winning documentary “Lioness” can put another award in the trophy case. A participant in the 2009 GI Film Festival, “Lioness” was voted “Best Military Family Film” at the annual event.

“I manage to see a couple [of films] that I can’t get out of my head, says Melissa Silverstein of Women and Hollywood. “This year one of the films was ‘Lioness.’” A powerful, unforgettable and realistic look at today’s military women, we at the Foundation couldn’t agree more. It truly is a must see.

“Lioness” tells the true story of a handful of Army women who were part of the first operation in American history to send women into direct ground combat.
