Authors, Journalists, Scholars and Researchers–Attention Navy Women

From time to time, the Foundation is asked to help writers, scholars and researchers identify military women, past and present, who are willing to participate in surveys, studies and interviews for books, research papers or projects relating to women’s military service.

In order to reach a wider audience, we’ve decided to post, at our discretion, some of these requests. Interested readers may contact the authors or researchers directly. The following is the first of such postings:

CDR Catherine Leahey is researching material for a book on the history of Navy women serving aboard ships from the Revolutionary War to the repeal of the combat exclusion laws in 1993. She would like to interview Navy nurses and female hospital corpsmen who served aboard transport ships in the 1950s and 1960s; or aboard USS Repose (AH16) from Nov. 1965 to Dec. 31, 1966; or aboard USS Sanctuary (AH17) from Sept. 1972 to March 1975. Those interested in participating may contact CDR Leahey at caleahey@earthlink.net.
