Traveling WASP Exhibit
Opens at Memorial on Nov. 14


On Nov. 14, the Women's Memorial Foundation will welcome a traveling exhibit—FlyGirls of World War II—dedicated to the history of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP).

The traveling exhibit will debut at the Memorial with a special grand opening ceremony at 11 AM. The event is sponsored by Lockheed Martin.

Several WASP plan to attend the exhibit opening, which will be hosted by Foundation President, Brig. Gen. Wilma L. Vaught, USAF, Retired. Guest speakers include Emmy-award winning journalist and best-selling author Cokie Roberts and Maj. Nicole Malachowski, the first woman to fly with the famed US Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron—The Thunderbirds.

The Women's Memorial is the first stop on a nationwide tour of the FlyGirls exhibit, which was created by the Wings Across America Project. For more information about the exhibit, visit the WASP Web site.
