Excitement continues to build as we get closer and closer to the WASP Gold Medal Ceremony celebration on March 9 and 10, 2010.

Formal invitations to the official Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony on Mar. 10, 2010, at 11 a.m., have been mailed to the WASP and designated family representatives of deceased WASP. Please be sure to RSVP to the Speaker using the instructions included in the invitation.

Other celebration events include a Remembrance Ceremony at the World War II Memorial and a Welcome Salute Reception with senior Defense Department officials at the Women In Military Service For America Memorial. These events will be held the afternoon of March 9. On March 10, following the official ceremony there will be a Celebration Reception at the U.S. Capitol for WASP and their guests.

We’ve put together a Celebration Activities Information Paper (updated March 4) about all of these events as well as other useful pieces of information to help attendees get a better picture of the two-day celebration. You may want to print a copy of the information paper and keep it with your travel information as a handy guide for event dates, times and locations. Also, you must print and complete the Reservation Form for these events and return it by Feb. 26, 2010. It is only necessary to complete and forward one (1) Reservation Form per WASP family group. We understand this is a very quick but necessary turn-around if all arrangements are to be made.

It may also be helpful to periodically review the listing of Qs and As that address various items related to the award of the WASP Congressional Gold Medal ceremony. We will update this listing as we get new information. You can also visit the Web site of Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison or the Wings Across America's Web site.

Information about discounted airline travel, accommodations and rental cars, as well as additional information regarding transportation, parking, etc., is included in the Celebration Activities Information Paper (updated March 4) and the Q & A listing.
