Day Ceremony at the Women's MemorialThe Women’s Memorial annual Memorial Day ceremony
will be held at 4 p.m., May 26, 2008. The ceremony, one of the major
Memorial Day programs in the nation’s capital, is free and open
to the public and includes formal military honors, a keynote address
and personal tributes to departed comrades. Members of the public are
invited to join in the personal tribute segment of the program. The
program will also include a special salute to the Navy Nurse Corps,
which celebrated its 100th anniversary on May 13.
Also open at the Memorial in time for Memorial Day commemorative
activities is The American Soldier: A Photographic Tribute to
Soldiers and Marines from the Civil War to the War in Iraq. On
the fourth stop of a nationwide tour, this special exhibit features
116 photographs—taken by
combat photojournalists and Pulitzer Prize winning photographers—that
capture the courage, camaraderie, heroism and ultimate sacrifice of
US soldiers and Marines from the Civil War to today’s wars. The
exhibit is free and open to the public.

The Women In Military Service
For America Memorial is the nation’s only major memorial honoring
all servicewomen, past, present and future. Featuring an exhibit
gallery, theater and Register of women who have served, the Memorial
is open to the public, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., daily.
