Quilts from the Heart
A Women's History Month Event

Quilts from the Heart, a special exhibition and program about the quilts made around the world in response to the September 11 attack on the Pentagon, continues the Women's Memorial commemoration of Women's History Month 2003. Scheduled for 12 noon to 1 PM, March 18, 2003, the program and exhibit is the first time some 80 of the quilts will be on display at the same location.

Ms. June Forte, the original Pentagon curator of the quilts, will narrate the event, telling the touching story of the quilts, their journey to the Pentagon and the people who made them. Presented in cooperation with the Department of Defense and the Burke Quilters Association, the event is the third in the series of brown bag lunch activities that mark the annual month-long observance of Women's History Month at the Memorial.

Remaining Women's Memorial Women's History Month events include the Department of Defense's official ceremony and observance of National Women's History Month 2003, Women Pioneering the Future, March 20, 1:30 PM; and a discussion and book signing with Jean Ebbert and Marie-Beth Hall, authors of The First, The Few, The Forgotten - Navy and Marine Corps Women in World War I, on March 25, 12 noon. Additional presentations of Above and Beyond: 100 Years of Women in Aviation, the film which made its world premiere earlier in the month at the Women's Memorial, will be shown at 10 AM and 3 PM daily during the month of March. All programs are free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch and a friend. Those interested in attending any or all of the events are encouraged to reserve a seat by calling 703-533-1155 or 800-222-2294.

The Women's Memorial, located at the gateway to Arlington National Cemetery, is readily accessible by Metro (Blue Line) and paid parking is available.
