Calling All Military Women!
Submit Your Photos for the Women’s Memorial 2016 Special Edition Calendar
It’s that time of year when we are busy working on our Special Edition Calendar. This year, inspired by the story of Army 1LT Ashley White who was killed in Afghanistan in 2011 while serving as part of an elite Cultural Support Team of female soldiers working alongside Special Operations forces; as well as the awesome accomplishment of CPT Kristen Griest and 1LT Shaye Haver, the first women in history to earn the coveted Army Ranger Tab, “This Is What A Hero Looks Like” seemed the perfect theme.
Military women are heroes. For more than two centuries, women—some 3 million—have stepped up, blazed trails and served the nation with distinction and pride. Using archival images and quotes from member Registrations and other sources, the Women’s Memorial 2016 Special Edition Calendar, “This Is What A Hero Looks Like,” will feature women from each military service, beginning with World War I. Each page will feature an array of women, past and present, who are America’s heroes because they served.
You can be a part of the 2016 calendar by submitting your photos of service, past and present, for consideration. Submissions are requested NLT Oct. 9, 2015.

Thanks in advance for your help with the 2016 calendar. We’re always looking for new images to use with our many projects and to make available to researchers, scholars and authors. Your thoughts about your service are valuable additions to the individual and collective history of women’s service to the nation.
