Canine Companions for Independence, the General Federation of
Women’s Clubs and the Women’s Memorial Celebrate Independence

Canine Companions for Independence in collaboration with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the Women In Military Service For America Memorial Foundation come together for a special afternoon to educate people on how assistance dogs enhance the lives of veterans with physical disabilities. Observe a live demonstration with a CCI Instructor and a Dog in Advanced Training, meet and speak with veteran teams, Sam Cila and Service Dog Gillian and Buddy Hayes and Service Dog Ellie. All this is happening September 29, 2010, from 2:30 – 5:00 pm at the Women In Military Service For America Memorial, Gateway, Arlington National Cemetery, and Arlington VA.

Guest speakers include: Dr. Clifford L. Stanley, Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness; Brigadier General Wilma L. Vaught, President, Women’s Memorial Foundation; Corey Hudson, CEO, Canine Companions for Independence, Secretary, Assistance Dogs International, and; Carlene A. Garner, International President, General Federation of Women’s Clubs.

Canine Companions for Independence Wounded Veterans Initiative provides highly-trained assistance dogs, at no cost to veterans with physical disabilities from the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts and to military hospitals and medical centers.
