“Just 4 Kids” Program March 9, 2-4 pm

Swap stories with a servicewoman who disguised herself as a man to fight in the American Revolution, chat with the only woman to be awarded the prestigious Medal of Honor and get the autograph of a present day servicewoman. Discover amazing stories of patriotism and courage in the individual experiences of servicewomen from the American Revolution to the present. Meet these women face to face, listen to their stories, ask them questions and uncover clues to find out who these women really are. Learn about the past and how the events of yesteryear affect our lives today.

Dressed For Battle is one in a series of two-hour special educational “Just 4 Kids” programs hosted by the Women In Military Service For America Memorial Foundation. Covering a variety of topics and involving various activities, the series is designed to familiarize attendees with the responsibilities of citizenship, American history, patriotism and women’s rich heritage of service. All events are open to the public and run from 2 to 4 pm at the Women’s Memorial. The cost is $2 per student per program and children must be accompanied by an adult (adult companions are free). Spaces are limited, make a reservation by calling Leigh Anne McNamara at 703-533-1155 or 800-222-2294.
