President’s Message

It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of this incredible organization. I fully appreciate the trust and faith bestowed upon me as the incoming President of the Women In Military Service For America (WIMSA) Memorial Foundation.

I am proud to have served my country in uniform and delighted to have the opportunity to continue to serve alongside so many of my sisters-in-arms!

As we look to the future, I am excited for all of the new opportunities we have ahead of us at the Women’s Memorial – the place where America says thanks to the 3,000,000 women who have served in the nation’s defense, beginning with the American Revolution. The Memorial is undergoing significant external structural repairs and once completed, we will turn our focus to the interior redesign! Reimagined displays and state of the art technology will greatly enhance the Women’s Memorial experience for visitors of all ages so that generations to come will know of the service, courage and sacrifice of America’s military women, as well as those who’ve served by our side in the “We Also Served” organizations such as the American Red Cross, Special Services, Cadet Nurse Corps, WASP, USO and more.

Let me take this opportunity to acknowledge the amazing accomplishments of Brigadier General Wilma Vaught, President Emeritus, and Major General Dee McWilliams, past President. I am humbled to follow in their path – but they have lit the way and remain my trusted advisors. Perhaps more importantly, I want to publicly thank the Women In Military Service For America Memorial Foundation staff who have worked behind the scenes to diligently safeguard the stories of every woman registered. They are the unsung heroes of the Foundation.

As we look ahead to the 25th Anniversary of the Women’s Memorial in 2022, you can rest assured that we will never waiver from our commitment of honoring all women who have served in and with the United States Armed Forces. I look forward to meeting many of you and hearing your incredible stories!
