Women's Memorial Foundation is Vietnam War Commemorative Partner

The Women’s Memorial Foundation is honored to be an official participant in the Commemorative Partner Program for the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration. As such, we will be “conducting events and activities to recognize the Vietnam Veterans and their families’ service, valor and sacrifice” during the 2015-2017 commemorative period. One of our efforts will be to feature many of the artifacts in our collection from that war, as well as to emphasize increased participation of Vietnam War servicewomen in our oral history program. These activities are to be featured at the Memorial and in various ways on our website. We are pleased to bring you the first installment of that effort with the release of a new Oral History Highlight, Good Anesthesia in a War Zone: The Story of the 1st Navy Nurse Anesthetist in Vietnam. We encourage you to meet LCDR Owedia “Tweedie” Searcy and hope you enjoy this never-before-told-story of one of America’s military women. Look for more Vietnam related stories over the coming months.
